GEO basics

What is GEO?#

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the work of getting a brand accurately mentioned, understood, and recommended in AI-generated answers. It starts from the questions real users ask AI, looks at how models describe and compare the brand, and then strengthens the content and evidence behind it. PeakGEO covers the diagnosis, action planning, and retesting parts of that work.

How is GEO different from traditional SEO?#

SEO mainly concerns discovery and access in search results. GEO concerns how generative answers mention, understand, and cite brands. PeakGEO starts from questions and model answers to analyze brand AI visibility and competitive performance.

Which AI models does PeakGEO cover?#

PeakGEO covers Doubao, DeepSeek, Qwen, Yuanbao, Kimi, ERNIE, Zhipu Qingyan, iFlytek Spark, ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok. Selectable platforms depend on the console’s available catalog and your account permissions. Formal diagnoses compare the selected platforms on the same question set; the website’s free quick check covers Doubao, DeepSeek, Qwen, and Yuanbao.

Can GEO guarantee that AI will recommend my brand?#

No. Nobody controls what a model answers. PeakGEO delivers a diagnosis, evidence-based recommendations, and retests that show where you stand, what is worth adding, and how results change under comparable conditions, without promising a higher recommendation rate.

Methodology

How does a PeakGEO diagnosis work?#

You confirm the brand profile, competitors, and research questions; PeakGEO then asks each question on the models you selected and keeps every answer along with its cited sources. From there it measures mentions, recommendations, and competitor performance, produces a report with recommended actions, and lets you retest the same questions later to track change.

How does PeakGEO research user needs?#

The system uses brand materials to propose research themes and generate simulated user questions. Customers confirm and adjust these questions rather than designing a complete question set from scratch.

How many questions does a diagnosis ask AI?#

The formal question set targets 24 to 40 questions grouped by theme, with at least 10 unbranded discovery questions, at least 10 unbranded recommendation questions, and a few branded check questions. The count is a coverage target, not a quota to fill, and you can review and edit every question before the diagnosis starts.

How are competitors chosen for comparison?#

PeakGEO researches candidate competitors from your brand profile and shows the reasoning behind each one, and you can also add competitor websites yourself. Only competitors you confirm enter the formal comparison; new brands that show up in AI answers are flagged as candidates, not counted automatically.

How can I improve my brand’s ranking in DeepSeek, Doubao, and other AI answers?#

AI answers have no fixed ranking, and the order in which brands appear is not a recommendation rank. What matters is whether your brand is mentioned and explicitly recommended. PeakGEO pinpoints the questions where it is not, investigates why, and guides you to add well-sourced content, then retests to see what changed.

What recommendations do I get after a diagnosis?#

Recommendations come in two steps. Verification actions first establish the real cause, such as whether an answer lacked citations or whether its sources actually support the claim; improvement actions follow once the evidence is clear. Improvement actions can be turned into content briefs and drafts in which every fact must have a source and pass an independent quality check.

Metrics

How is AI search visibility measured?#

PeakGEO counts each answer from one model to one question as a unit and focuses on three rates: organic mention rate, organic recommendation rate, and risk mention rate. These count only unbranded questions and are read alongside cited sources and competitor share of voice.

How do brand mentions differ from brand recommendations?#

“A, B, and C are available” only names brands. “Based on customer needs, consider A first” explicitly recommends one. We assess these separately, and also separate questions that name a brand from those that do not.

Why don’t questions that name my brand count toward the mention rate?#

When a question already names the brand, the answer will mention it, which says nothing about whether users can discover the brand on their own. Branded check questions show how AI describes and evaluates the brand, while mention and recommendation rates count only unbranded questions.

AI answers vary every time. Are the results reliable?#

Model answers do fluctuate, so every rate comes with a 95% confidence interval and a rate with fewer than 20 valid answers has a wide interval and is for reference only. Failed, timed-out, and empty answers are excluded, a rate with no valid answers shows as “no valid answers” rather than 0%, and scheduled monitoring can sample the same question several times.

What is the difference between share of voice and mention rate?#

Mention rate is the share of answers that mention your brand; share of voice is your brand’s share of all mentions across your brand and tracked competitors. If your brand is mentioned in 4 of 10 answers and two competitors are mentioned 5 times in total, your mention rate is 40% and your share of voice is 4/9, about 44.4%. Share of voice is not market share.

How do I know whether AI visibility actually changed after optimization?#

A retest compares only the same question on the same model where both rounds returned results under the same conditions. If the confidence intervals overlap, the result is reported as indistinguishable rather than as a gain or loss, and even a real change shows only what the retest observed, not that a specific action caused it.

Data and crawler

Where does PeakGEO’s AI answer data come from?#

PeakGEO asks each question through the model’s API with web search enabled, in a fresh session with no chat history, and stores the full answer text and cited links. Results therefore reflect model answers under consistent conditions and may differ from what an individual sees in the consumer app.

Can findings be traced back to the original AI answers?#

Yes. Every key finding keeps its question, model, and original answer, and sources the model cited are shown separately from materials PeakGEO checked on its own. When there is no linked answer or the evidence is insufficient, no definitive finding is produced.

Can I see which websites AI answers cite?#

Yes. PeakGEO lists every cited link with its domain and citation count, and reports the answer citation rate, the official-site citation rate, and the citation rate for each domain. A frequently cited source is one models use often, which does not make it accurate or reliable.

How does PeakGEO gather brand information?#

PeakGEO reads the website you provide, searches for official brand pages when needed, and combines them with any materials you upload, keeping a source for each extracted fact. Nothing is saved until you confirm it, and unreadable pages or missing details are flagged rather than filled in by guesswork.

What is PeakGEOBot, and will it crawl my website?#

PeakGEOBot is the page reader PeakGEO uses during diagnoses. It reads only a few pages of brand and competitor websites, such as the homepage and product pages, when a customer starts a diagnosis, and never crawls whole sites or on a schedule. It sends only GET requests, never logs in, submits forms, or collects personal data, and you can block it by its User-Agent at your server or CDN; see the crawler page for details.

Getting started

How do I get started with PeakGEO?#

Sign up, create a brand, and enter its website or upload brand materials. PeakGEO drafts the brand profile, competitors, themes, and research questions for you to confirm; choose the models to observe and start your first diagnosis.

Can a diagnosis begin without a website?#

Customers can provide brand or product introductions, such as PDFs or Word documents with extractable text. The system organizes them for customer confirmation. Uploaded materials help establish brand understanding; they do not imply that the information is public or has been cited by a model.

Can I export the diagnosis report?#

Yes. You can read the report online or download it as a self-contained HTML file that opens offline, covering measurement scope, core metrics, competitors, key findings, recommended actions, and the answer log. A downloaded report is a snapshot, and you can refresh it when new results arrive.

Can I monitor my brand’s AI performance over time?#

Yes. Monitoring plans run daily or weekly on reviewed questions from your question set and can sample each question several times. When visibility keeps declining or a retest shows a significant drop, PeakGEO raises an alert and can send it to Feishu, WeCom, DingTalk, or a custom webhook.

Does PeakGEO publish content for us automatically?#

No. Once content passes its quality check, you copy or export it, publish it on your own site or channels, and register the published link in PeakGEO, which then retests the related questions automatically. Content affects brand messaging and compliance, so a person should still review it before publishing.
